New section of CRMW website focuses on public health and MTR

Coal River Mountain Watch announces the creation of a new section on our website entitled "The Health Impacts of Mountaintop Removal and Coal Mining."  Coal River Mountain Watch works to protect the health and safety of communities impacted by mountaintop removal coal mining and has long argued that this form of mining has serious consequences for the health of people in surrounding communities. Recent peer-reviewed scientific studies have confirmed this observation.

Patriot Coal held accountable for selenium pollution

CRMW's allies at the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, West Virginia Highlands Conservancy, Sierra Club, and Appalachian Mountain Advocates scored a major legal victory earlier this week, securing a settlement agreement with Patriot Coal that will require the company to clean up selenium pollution from three of its mountaintop removal sites (Hobet 21, Ruffner, and Samples).
