The West Virginia Energy Gathering will be held on September 28th, 29th and 30th at Glenville State College. Come for a weekend of sharing, learning, and strategizing around energy issues with other students and youth from across the state! Build solidarity among youth and community groups working to make energy in West Virginia both sustainable and just! PoWer-VEG can become the foundation for a youth environmental justice coalition in West Virginia!

It is time to rethink every aspect of energy, from our own personal use of electricity, to coal power plants, global warming, and mountaintop removal. Coal companies are sacrificing West Virginia in the name of cheap and dirty energy for the rest of the country. Mountaintop removal coal mining is blasting away the southern part of the state. Cancer causing coal slurry is being injected ungrounded and coming out of people's faucets. The children at Marsh fork Elementary breathe coal dust while going to school. The coal mined from these mountains is fueling our pending climate chaos.

West Virginia needs a just transition to a clean and renewable energy future. We can halt injustices in the mountains and build a sustainable economy based on clean and safe jobs. Youth can come together and support this region wide struggle. PoWer-VEG is a point of convergence where young people can come be a part of this movement. This is a chance for students from across the state to find out what other schools are doing to address these problems and share their ideas. They will collaborate with some of the most active and creative youth working locally to begin making energy in West Virginia both sustainable and just! Will you join us?

MTR at Kayford Mountain.
This is not intended to be a summit of workshop after lecture after workshop. Instead it will be first and foremost a strategy session, a space for us to hash out just how we intend to make change on our campuses, in our communities, in our state, and in our world. Come share your vision and create a better future!
