It’s been a great year for our movement, but as you know all too well there is still much to be done!

With awareness around mountaintop removal and global warming at an all-time high, successful litigation, and a rapidly growing network, we are closer than ever to a healthy, sustainable future, not just for Appalachia but the world. As close as we are to a brighter future, our mountains are still under attack daily; our lives, heritage, history and culture under constant threat.
With an ever-growing community base, the formation of the Alliance for Appalachia, stronger national relationships than ever, we are perfectly poised to make 2008 our most successful year ever, but we can’t do it without your support. Coal River Mountain Watch (CRMW) is a grassroots organization working to preserve the communities in the mountains of southern West Virginia. The mission of Coal River Mountain Watch is to stop the destruction of our communities and the environment by mountaintop removal mining, to improve the quality of life in our communities and to help rebuild sustainable communities. CRMW works to empower local communities to fight the effects of irresponsible mining techniques. While we honor the tradition of coal mining in this state, it is our position that mountaintop removal is destructive to our homes and to our mountain heritage, and must be halted. Our goals include the advancement of economic diversity and increased public safety. CRMW welcomes members who support our mission and goals.
