Army Corps: Stop Rubber-Stamping Valley Fill Permits!

Oct 6, 2009

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hold public hearings in four coalfield areas Oct. 13-15, about the decision to stop allowing fast-track valley fills permits, called "Nationwide Permit 21," or "NWP 21. "  Ending nationwide permits will slow mountaintop removal coal mining and give local residents a greater voice in the permitting process, taking us one step closer to ending mountaintop removal altogether.   We need to speak out loud and clear at these hearings and make sure Big Coal's voice isn't the only one!  If you can, please attend the meeting nearest you. The schedule is below, along with contact people -- please let the contact people know if you plan to attend.  If you need a ride, carpooling can be arranged.
